Bio-Rad is seeking a Technical Science Writer/Editor to join its global Life Science Marketing and Communications (MarCom) Department.
This is a remote position, but you will work typical Pacific time working hours to facilitate collaboration with colleagues at our Hercules, CA headquarters.
You will play a key role in helping to shape the voice of Bio-Rad for its global customer base.
With your advanced science degree (PhD preferred), you will grow to understand our products and work with business stakeholders and the MarCom team to effectively communicate key product and solution messages.
How You'll Make An Impact:
Works under the direction of the Editorial Manager but manages their own workload.
Works with Life Science Group (LSG) product teams to flesh out communication objectives and ensure that product messages are written clearly and compellingly.
Writes, edits, and works with team members to create marketing and advertising materials, including brochures, fliers, technical/application notes, videos, and posters.
Ensures marketing collateral meets editorial style guidelines and is scientifically accurate.
Collaborates in project teams with Creative Director, Video Producers, Art Directors, Graphic Designers, and Project Managers.
Edits content marketing articles such as trends articles, customer stories, and content for an online magazine (bioradiations.
com).
Serves as a technical expert for the MarCom department, acting as a bridge between scientists and non- scientist.
What You Bring:
Education:
PhD in the life sciences preferred; or master s degree in the life sciences.
Work
Experience:
At least 3 years of experience editing and/or writing for a scientific audience.
Equivalent experience may be accepted in lieu of an advanced degree.
Scientific knowledge:
Understands basic scientific concepts and laboratory techniques in molecular biology and biochemistry (chromatography, western blotting, etc.
); communicates using accurate scientific language; understands what motivates researchers in the life sciences and how to structure copy that resonates with them; capable of synthesizing and critically reading scientific literature.
Scientific writing/editing:
Is familiar with the structure and style of scientific articles; has written scientific articles; can provide feedback to internal business stakeholders on logical progression of scientific ideas/arguments.
Writing skills:
Proficient in English with the ability to write and guide development of a variety of materials in different media formats (e.
g.
, technical/application notes, fliers, customer stories, trend articles, podcasts, testimonials, and product videos; must be able to adapt voice to match intent/purpose of each piece).
Note:
Candidates will be asked to provide writing samples and will be asked to take an editing and writing test for this position.
Attention to detail:
Possesses extreme attention to detail and is familiar with Chicago Manual of Style or AMA Manual; is able to ensure internal consistency when editing lengthy documents; is able to consistently enforce style guidelines across all documents.
Organizational skills:
Is able to follow department workflow processes and manage multiple projects simultaneously and effectively under deadlines.
Interpersonal skills:
Is able to work effectively with diverse teams and communicate professionally with coworkers and business partners, both in virtual meetings and written communication.
Creativity:
Can develop creative solutions to deliver key scientific and marketing messages, including effective use of language, visuals, layout, and audio.

The estimated base salary range for this position is $57,700 to $98,500 at the time of posting.
Actual compensation will be provided in writing at the time of offer, if applicable, and is based on several factors we believe fairly and accurately impact compensation, including geographic location, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, and other job permitted factors.
This position is eligible for a variable annual bonus, which is dependent upon achievement of your individual objectives and Company performance.
